New Website
I’d like to introduce everyone to my new website: TheCoalTrader.com
It’s mostly a landing and marketing page for the Newsletter which you’ve already signed up for in some form or fashion, but it includes some additional functionality as a Coal News aggregation source.
I’ll be manually curating Coal News from around the web each week, perhaps 5-10 articles which I personally feel are important to read and think about if you’re following the coal and resource business cycle. With each article I add a little bit of my own commentary and explain why the content is meaningful.
I’ll then put out a free weekly substack post highlighting these stories and providing readers with extra content they can peruse on their own.
New Twitter Feed
There’s also a Coal News Twitter Feed you can follow to keep up:
If you’ve ever seen the Portlandia skit where they Put a Bird On It!, I was inspired to put my own cute little coal mining bird on the news feed.

Week of Aug 22, 2022 is up. I publish each new week's post on Tuesday mornings pre-market. The reason I do Tuesday's is due to Monday's EOD results/data not being ready until then. So Saturday morning I close out Friday and the previous week, but I don't have any new data until Tuesday morning. I'll give it some more thought though.
What do you think about buying some longer term puts on european indexes like the euro stoxx, with expiration dates somewhere in the winter. Good play on the worsening energy crisis and dollar strength? Was wondering this because I mostly see you buying puts on american stocks.
