Portfolio Update
Before we get to the Coal News of the week, curated by yours truly, I’d like to provide a quick update on The Coal Trader portfolio. This is actually more of a plug since the portfolio has been killing it since I’ve gotten back from vacation three weeks ago.
At the close of business on Friday, the portfolio remained approximately 46% hedged for a continued stock market pullback, mostly by being short tech. I remain long coal equities, oil & gas equities, and long-dated natural gas futures, see below:

There have been at least 6 coal-fired power plants in the US to have their closure dates pushed back.
Whitehaven Coal Full Year 2022 Earnings
The darling of the coal industry this past quarter has been Australia’s Whitehaven Coal (WHC.AX).
